U.S. probe into Georgia special ed program could have national impact

The Justice Department has accused Georgia of segregating thousands of students with behavior-related disabilities, shunting them into a program that denies them access to their non-disabled peers and to extracurricular activities and other basic amenities, including gymnasiums, libraries and appropriately certified teachers.

Physician Burnout Reaching a Critical Level

This year's Medscape survey, echoing other recent national surveys strongly suggests that burnout among US physicians has reached a critical level. Burnout in these surveys is defined as loss of enthusiasm for work, feelings of cynicism, and a low sense of personal accomplishment. In this year's Medscape report, the highest percentages of burnout occurred in critical care, urology, and emergency medicine, all at 55%. Family medicine and internal medicine follow closely at 54%.

School district apologizes after teen with autism left at Wal-Mart during field trip

LAYTON, Utah -- Nathan Anderson is not your average teenager. While kids his age learn to drive, 16-year-old Nathan can barely communicate. So, his parents were terrified when they got a call from a police officer, telling them Nathan was found wandering alone in a Wal-Mart.
