SPECIAL EDITION - RESOURCES
Since 1995, USAAA began improving the quality of life of individuals affected by Autism, Asperger Syndrome and other related disorders with a mission to provide the opportunity for everyone living with Autism, Asperger Syndrome and other related disorders to achieve their fullest potential, by enriching the autism community with education, training, accessible resources, and partnerships with local and national projects.

The US Autism & Asperger Association web site, www.usautism.org, offers an abundance of information. This special edition features the Resources section of the site. In the Intervention and Therapies section, the approaches and techniques are categorized predominantly by their theories and objectives. Interventions and Therapies are arranged into four areas: Comprehensive Treatment Programs (CTP), Techniques and Therapies, Developmental, Educational, and Medical/Biomedical. Many of the therapies overlap into all of the categories.

ASDs: What Are They?

There are two established systems that identify Autism Spectrum Disorders, Autism, and Asperger Syndrome:
The International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) produced by the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) published by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).
