Conference Theme: Treating Autism as a Medical Disorder; Bringing Biomedical Treatments and Behavioral & Developmental Therapies Together
USAAA assembles thirty world renown experts that focus on ways to improve the quality of life for the affected individuals and their families and caregivers by conducting presentations in the areas of biomedical interventions, research, behavioral and developmental therapies, diet and nutrition, and family issues. It is attended by Parents, Health Care Professionals, Caretakers, Educators and anyone who wants to learn more about services and treatment for children living with autism and Asperger's Syndrome.
Many things set this conference above others.
- Speakers interact with parents exchanging ideas and listen to their individual stories.
- The siblings of children with autism also have a panel where they discuss their experiences.
- There is a parent/practitioner open panel discussion where all members of the panel are parents of a child with autism.
- Lunch will be provided Friday and Saturday as sponsors are secured. Check the schedule online for further details.
- Two special clinics will be presented on Thursday and Friday evening that will include dinner for all registrants. Both of the clinics are included in your registration for that day.
USAAA introduces "Autism: Impact on Education" training program for the first time at a national level autism and Asperger conference, on Saturday, September 6. This program is designed specifically for teachers and other school personnel (therapists, teaching assistants, administrators, and behavior intervention specialists) and will be presented by Valerie Paradiz, PhD, Stephen Shore, EdD, and Marlo Payne Rice, MS. The all day session will be limited to 90 professionals, so be sure to register early. The program will expand in 2009 to allow more registrants.
A special message from Phillip C. DeMio, MD, USAAA Chief Medical Officer:
By attending the USAAA conference, it is by your presence that USAAA brings together a variety of speakers and information to help you on your journey through the world of the Autism Spectrum. Throughout this conference, it is our hope that you'll find a balance of concepts and pragmatics, from current protocols to research, including biomedical, developmental, and behavioral realms, right down to tools that you can use immediately to begin or add to those needed for your journey.
You will be able to register for one, two, or three days. All registration packages include the Sunday session. Sunday only registration is available onsite only during the conference. If you have any questions, please call us at 1-888-9AUTISM.
